“And what difference does it make, anyway, what you like and what you don’t like? You are here for but an instant, and you mustn’t take yourself too seriously.”
― Edgar Rice Burroughs

Dragonfly – Orlando Wetlands Park – September 2015

Dragonfly – Lake Appka Wildlife Drive – September 2015

“Today I will do what others won’t, so tomorrow I can accomplish what others can’t.” – Jerry Rice

I’m not sure if the birds were hard to find this weekend or I am becoming more discriminating in what I photograph. In any case here are a couple of dragonflies.

Dragonfly Lore

“Reflected in the dragonflies eye — mountains” – Kobayashi Issa

Dragonflies live 2 different lives. In the east they are majestic signs of strength, in the west objects of superstition. Some translations of European names for dragonflies – devils needle (French and German), water witch, blind stinger. See this blurb for more info I’ll be adding this to my wetlands tour talks.

To me the fact that hexagons appear again – in the light reflected from the dragonflies eyes is a tribute to that universal shape.

Thanks to for leading me on this path of investigation.
