“The most valuable of all talents is that of never using two words when one will do.” ― Thomas Jefferson

To my international friends today is the day that the US celebrates its independence. One of my favorite holidays.

“I’m a greater believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it” ― Thomas Jefferson

There will be quite a few great blue heron pics over the next couple of days. I think the young ones are coming out of the nests.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” – Lao-tzu

These pictures were that first step for me. I fell in love with the wetlands on that day. Since that day I have begun volunteering at the wetlands, I started a blog and have posted at least 2x a day since January, taken thousands of pictures and 2 bird photography seminars, read many wonderful books, begun study of birds, enrolled in the first “Florida Master Naturalist” course in the fall. Met many incredible people through volunteering and virtually through blogging.

Thanks to everyone and especially my wife for putting up with me. Lets see what the next 999 miles will bring.
