Here’s an extreme crop of a pic. Shot at 70mm from Twin Peaks in San Francisco. I kept it for the old time feel of the cropped photo, fog and lots of grain.

Couple of Wood Stork pics. Upgraded to a “threatened” species in June of last year – progress!!

Nothing screams scale like legoland. Both oversize and undersized. Had to reach way back in the archives for these pics. For example the little boy in the photo is now 18. These are jpegs were taken with my beloved Nikon d70, which just died this month – RIP.
On another thought now that we have a lego land in Central Florida I need to go see it – always fun.

Well, the pictures aren’t great but the idea is there. If you look at the flying birds you can definitely tell they are moving. Even though they appear still I think the random positioning shows the motion.
Tree Swallows are among the more difficult birds to catch in flight. The pictures with the birds in the air are taken at 1/2000 of a second, the tree is 1/500 and you can really see the blur.

Love these guys. The glossy is in breeding plumage, I think that the green is somewhere in between.

Had to dig into the archives for this one. This is the upper part of Cinderella’s Castle at Disney World in Orlando. Shot with my kit lens – the spires do not really lean in like that.
I’m not really happy with my black and white conversions. There never seems to be enough contrast in my photos to make the B&W conversions pop.
So perhaps if I tried for more contrasty captures things would turn out better – another challenge!!

Both these pictures show great egrets with some indication of breeding plumage. Note the green feathers around the face. I’m starting to see a pattern here – like the ibis it’s facial feathers that attract. Hmm, perhaps we men should be growing beards.

To me nothing quite pops like the color of a flamingo. In the first pic my ballet dancer is in mixed light which made it difficult to capture perfectly. The second picture includes a wood stork – for those who prefer black and white.

Both these pics made me think “Peek a boo, I see you” The otter was swimming and enjoying life between the cells at the park. He was diving and actually appeared to be playing peek a boo. The gator on the other hand, was simply looking and choose not to move.
