Hi! – Orlando Wetlands Park – April 2015America Alligator – Orlando Wetlands Park – April 2015
The alligators were very active Sunday morning. A count was done recently and the determined there are 1700+ alligators in the park. That works out to be a little over 1 per acre. Yikes!
They were very active Sunday morning. Usually I am not bothered – but they were quite intimidating. I think it’s close to mating season. Btw 300mm lens and I’m up on a berm. Cannot be too careful. Thanks!
Sounds like exactly what I shoot them with and where! The last one we saw wasn’t happy to see us as well. They’re fun to watch but need to be respected. All of your photos always make me want to drop everything and visit those places!
I read somewhere that crocodiles and alligators sometimes invade the golf courses… As you said, “Yikes!” 🙂
Yes, alligators are everywhere here in Florida. And often are found on golf courses, backyards, and in any one of the thousands of lakes, drainage ponds, sinkholes, and other bodies of water. Crocodiles on the other hand are salt water creatures and what little we have are confined to extreme south Florida. Attacks are VERY rare and usually are from gators who have had human contact of some kind like being fed, etc.
I read your title then saw the photo and my first thought was I hoped you weren’t lunch! Great photos!!
