These birds, while cautious were not afraid. Fortunately there were plenty of fish about. Alligators prefer fish since they are much easier to catch and deal with than birds.
We counted 8 alligators among the flock of over 150 birds feeding in this area.

Cool picture :-). It took me a few seconds to notice the alligators! Interesting to read that alligators choose fish over birds. Now that I have read it, it makes perfect sense! Also interesting to see a Great Blue Heron fishing in a very different environment from the one I saw yesterday (in Vancouver, British Columbia).
