I’m going to try a new feature which will run periodically on either Tuesday or Thursday. It will of course have a picture and a bit of a message. I started out blogging, wanting to improve my writing skills and haven’t done that. I’m working on a bit about Rachel Carson, having just finished reading her biography. I’m going to try to have it ready for Thursday. Any ideas about how many words are enough – without being too many?
Nice Frank!

Nice photo! Writing is a skill, just like photography! I once read that 700 words are perfect for a blog!
Good luck!
Kind regards,
Tieme
Thanks! I realize the task is large – 700 words – lots more than my usual 50.
I would say write your post and see, as it’s hard to say how many words is right! Around a 1000 can be read in about 5 minutes I guess, bearing in mind most people don’t have much spare time.
I also like to write and usually do so once a week. It is the writing that is important, and if people do have the time to read it, that’s great. If not, you have still improved your writing skills ๐
And it’s a great capture of the little humming bird. It almost looks like a painting. ๐
Thanks, being a man of few words I’ll be lucky to get to 500. At least that will be my first target. Also, not targeting creative writing just yet – more informational/editorial. Appreciate the advice and encouragement.
That sounds about right to me. I was going to say 400 to 500 for “enough”. Sometimes less is more. ๐
Thanks!
500 is a good number to start with ๐
Have fun!
The picture has the feeling of a Chinese brush painting. Well done. Around 5-600 words is good to act as a constraint for getting ideas down.
Thanks, that’s what I’m targeting.
Beautiful hummingbird. My internet died in the midst of posting my first comment, which you may or may not have received. I look forward to your writing posts!
Thank you!
PS. I had some kind of tech trouble with my writing blog so I started over, if you are interested, here is the link: https://lauraspaper.wordpress.com/
OK Thanks.
