Here’s an American Bittern “hiding”. They stand like this to mimic reeds – however this guy was a bit out in the open for that routine.

Beautiful photo. A wonderful bird and nature. I find very difficult to photograph a bird, they always move faster than me when trying to capture an image of them … I may need more practice and patience. Great photo. Thank you. Adrian
Thanks! I always wait for him to show up in the fall. Larger birds like these are good practice – they don’t typically move fast. Lately I’ve been chasing warblers – that’s a challenge.
