Wekiva Springs State Park

Wekiva Springs State Park is at the headwaters of the Wekiva River, which runs to the St Johns. This was my first trip to the park, it has many different upland habitats. It will be a great place to visit when the warblers and such start migrating.

Target Species
The purple gallinule is one of the parks “target” species. Lots of birders from all over come to see them. Here’s a good shot of the light blue shield.
