Sedges Have Edges

Sedge Flower – Mullet Lake Park – May 2016

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain.”- Vivian Greene

Title from a plant ID rhyme “Sedges have edges; rushes are round; grasses are hollow right up from the ground”. While not always true – often times it plays in my head as I walk around.

Coreopsis lanceolata – Mullet Lake Park – February 2016

“I believe in the uncommon, the unusual and unlikely, even the miraculous.   I believe in nearly all things except impossibilities. That I can’t fathom. ” – Richelle E. Goodrich

I don’t like it when the word common is used in the descriptor for something this beautiful.

Shoestring Fern

Fern – Mullet Lake Park – February 2016

“Although our intellect always longs for clarity and certainty, our nature often finds uncertainty fascinating.” – Carl von Clausewitz

I’m trying to catalog the flora and fauna of Mullet Lake Park and came across this guy – is it a shoestring fern or a wild pine? I will have to wait until it flowers to tell for sure. In either case it is an epiphyte  living on this palm tree.
