I was introduced to an entirely different habitat at the park Saturday. In amongst the hardwoods around the edges of the wetlands where the air plants grow.

Check out the heron’s eye in the first pic. Looks like some sort of protective eye lid while he struggles with the snake. In the second pic he’s trying to figure out how to eat it.

This is a new to me interesting flower. The flower is actually the tiny blooms in the center. The leaves turn white much like a poinsettia. And as always in the ecosystem there are spider webs and a tiny beetle like creature in residence. (see tight crop.)
