Couple of flowers that showed up in pairs. The first is a spiderwort – in keeping with today’s spooky theme – my other post.

For edge and alignment I stuck with nature, The coral honey suckle projects in an inverted fan, and the palm frond upwards. Both pictures were enhanced in photoshop to deepen the lines.
And thanks to photo 101 – I have been dying to use the palm frond picture since I took it, not sure why it struck me.

“I am always doing what I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.” – Pablo Picasso
A couple of purple gallinule among the spatterdock. The 2nd guy was munching away on the flower. This weekend I will try to get some good pictures of the flowers. They are interesting in that they never seem to fully open. Another pic I’m looking for is a full face of the gallinule, the beaks are yellow, then red, with a blue shield above it. Oh and the bright yellow legs are cool too.
Quote found in the book The Zen of Creativity by John Daido Loori.

This little guy is one of the wild flower treasures in Central Florida. I believe it’s Mimosa Pudica. Although it’s a non-native species I am delighted every time I stumble upon one. They remind me of a fireworks explosion, they are also the source of some magnificent puff balls at a later phase of their life.
It always gets me on the ground – macro lens in hand – snapping away.

“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science.” Albert Einstein Just finished The Zen of Creativity by John Daido Loori, He was a Buddhist monk, photographer, and artist. Very insightful book. Great follow up study to Frederick Franck’s work. Perhaps in a couple of months if I get over the wonder of new discovery I will be able to focus more on the art side of photography. Info on John Daido Loori can bve found at http://www.mro.org/daido/ . This marks the reappearance of lantana – probably not the last time as it’s colors and shapes fascinate me.
And, with the second pic I have added a new location – Mead Botanical Garden. This is a 50 acre oasis in Winter Park Florida, great spot for a break from civilization. I believe I spotted a reddish egret there, I will be asking my birding friends on Saturday for confirmation.

“Not the cry, but the flight of the wild duck leads the flock to fly and follow” – Chinese Proverb
There were hundreds of American Coots at the wetlands on Sunday. I was amazed as they took to flight. They are not very good flyers, their wings never seem to escape the water.

“In the hope of reaching the moon men fail to see the flowers that blossom at their feet.” Albert Schweitzer
Cannot really add to that quote. It encapsulates the spirit of what I want my blog to say.
