“Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.” – Mark Twain
Wild pigs live in all 67 counties in Florida. Some are descendents of the pigs brought to America by the Spanish in the early 1500’s. Most are hybrid’s of the domestic pig and Eurasian wild hog.
These are the first I’ve seen. There were also reports of a mom and 2 babies on Black Point Drive, Saturday as well. I think the water is a bit low and it brought them to the road.

“I have been studying the traits and dispositions of the “lower animals” (so called) and contrasting them with the traits and dispositions of man. I find the result humiliating to me.” – Mark Twain
Lake Apopka North Shore Wildlife Drive is an 11 mile drive through a rich wetlands and upland habitat. Very lovely and lots of places to stop for walking or pictures.

“Good judgement is the result of experience and experience the result of bad judgement.” – Mark Twain
Slightly different quote theme to go with my title. This is a regional reference, With one of our state university mascots being the gator (in fact the inventors of Gatorade), Georgia is a natural rival. So the title will surely make some cringe.
Back to nature, with a brief encounter I did notice the behavior of the Gerorgia alligators is altogether different than ours at the wetlands. Going to need to investigate.

“Apparently there is nothing that cannot happen today” Mark Twain
Mark Twain is one of my literary heroes. He was the ultimate wanderer. Starting down the Mississippi, he went out to Nevada, then San Francisco, Hawaiian Islands and the Mid East. Along the way he wrote some great travelogues – Innocent’s Abroad, Following the Equator, Autobiography among others.
Here’s some pics from the Virginia City, NV home of the Territorial Enterprise where Mark Twain wrote for the newspaper.
