From the Masonic Temple in Philadelphia. The ceiling in the second picture is made up of thousands of pieces of glass. This building was featured in the movie National Treasure – although our guide assured us there was no treasure there. The decor and architecture is unbelievable.
Spent last week in Philadelphia, only had my point and shoot with me, so the birds were elusive. But thought I’d share some random shots over the next couple of days.
This is the art museum, first shot from Love Park – then closer, which is more famous for having been in the movie Rocky, than for the fabulous works of art it contains. Including Carnival Evening by Henri Rousseau – my favorite artist.

I was trying to capture this bird in flight – obviously failed. However this seems to have a water color effect right out of the camera. The only processing was crop.

I continue to be fascinated by palm fronds. This one has the lighter area radiating from it’s stem. The patterns found in nature continue to amuse me.

This fellow was doing a sort of mating ritual – he was perched and would fly about in a perfect square of about 4 foot. I couldn’t spot the other birds he was trying to impress, perhaps he was practicing.

Anhinga – Orlando Wetlands Park – April 2015
The anhinga – also known as a snake bird because it swims with it’s body completely below the water and looks like a snake. Also, in response to a question I was asked on Saturday anhinga is a Brazilian tupi word. And tupi was a prevalent language in Brazil prior to the arrival of the Portuguese.
